June 28 Workshop: In a Climate-Changed World, New Land Management Practices Are Essential

By Catriona MacGregor Glazebrook

California and other states in the Western U.S. are facing unprecedented ecological challenges, such as biodiversity loss, droughts, and out-of-control fires. Yet, woefully out of date—and, in some cases, even harmful—forest and property management practices are being applied. Human influence has warmed the climate at a rate that is unprecedented in at least the last 2,000 years. Prolonged drought, atmospheric conditions and increased UV radiation are also driving loss of trees and wildlife.

Traditional forest practices put in place over a hundred years ago are being applied to “solve the problem,” but they are simply making things worse. They fail to prevent loss of life and property damage from fires. This is bad news for wildlife and taxpayers.

Join WellKnd’s Executive Director and scientist, Catriona Glazebrook, for an eye-opening workshop that will inform you on best management practices to protect your trees and wildlife given the state of our world today. She will also briefly cover the direct causes of the new inferno-type fires, how they differ from fires of the recent past, and the importance of having an evacuation plan in place. Join us on June 28 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, PST for this free workshop.

Sign up today and benefit from these simple steps you can take on your land. Three lucky participants will receive a free 30-minute consultation for management tips on their own property.
