Our Response to Covid-19 in Tzununá, Guatemala

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

Photo 3 Wellkind.jpg

Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, many local families do not have adequate food or access to the resources to purchase food, and due to the travel restrictions there has been a 50% increase in the price of basic food items. Thanks to the amazing support of our donors and the network of foreigners who live in Tzununa, the Wellkind Guatemala team has been able to distribute 4 rounds of bulk food items to 126 of the most at-risk families.

We hope to continue our food distribution efforts as many families continue to struggle buying staple foods. A $30 donation will allow us to provide corn, beans and rice for the at-risk families of Tzununá during this crisis. Please donate to help us continue food distribution for at-risk families.

LOCAL MASK PRODUCTION & DISTRIBUTION

At the start of the Pandemic, Guatemala instated a mandatory mask policy. Masks were nearly impossible to find, especially for the at-risk families in Tzununá. Wellkind immediately began working with local women in the community to produce a total of 1,300 masks. The masks were distributed to a local hospital, at-risk families, and essential workers. Not only did this project distribute masks to those most in need, but also supported and empowered a group of local women who earned a living wage while serving their community.
