WellKind’s Garden Mini-Grants

*Applications are closed.

WellKind supports school gardens throughout Northern California by partnering with schools in Marin City and Sonoma County. These schools’ gardens aim to connect children with hands-on experiences in nature, as well as transform curricula and improve student learning.

On September 16th, WellKind will be accepting applications for mini-grant proposals from Sonoma County and Marin City public schools that are creating or sustaining a garden program or related projects, such as a garden-oriented curriculum or educational materials.

WellKind is offering mini-grants ranging from $300.00 - $1,000.00.

Applications will be open until December 31, 2022.

In addition, WellKind is now offering “Science in the Garden,” an innovative education program for K-12 graders offered for free onsite at school gardens in Sonoma County. If you would like educational support in getting students outside and into the garden to learn about science, nutrition and ecology, let us know by contacting us at info@wellkind.org.

Your students appreciate your hard work, and so does everyone here at WellKind!

Highlights of Grantees that we supported :

We have partnered with 23 schools, 87% of which are Title 1 campuses, that believe in the power of learning in the garden and outdoor education. Our program provides over 8,000 youth access to gardens and outdoor education by assisting them in developing school gardens as learning labs to educate youth about science, ecology, nutrition, and more.

“The garden redirects negative energy and makes it positive with the bonus of plants and flowers that they care for and nurture. Being in the garden improved the students’ understanding of water conservation, water flow, and how and why plants adapt to their environment as well as the importance of maintaining a healthy environment. The better understand how everything is connected and interdependent.”
